Introducing: the Creative Bond
St. Lydia’s is excited to announce a new arts residency program called the Creative Bond. Over the next year, the Creative Bond will provide local artists with space and funding to host workshops, exhibits, performances, and salons in St. Lydia’s storefront at 304 Bond Street. The program will allow St. Lydia’s to open its doors to neighbors in new ways, to demonstrate our investment in the creative flourishing of our neighborhood and city, and to foster the vital work of artists across disciplines.
The Creative Bond is made possible through a generous grant from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with funds provided by Lilly Endowment Inc. St. Lydia’s is deeply grateful for this support, which will help further its mission to create community, dispel isolation, and reconnect neighbors.
St. Lydia’s is a church that gathers each week to share a sacred meal, as the first followers of Jesus did. We place practice before belief, trusting that eating, praying and singing together moves us deeper into faith. The Creative Bond is a natural expansion of Lydian worship practices, and a reflection of the church’s longstanding value of radical hospitality. Congregant, artist, and curator Deborah Chi will direct the program. She is eager to hear from neighbors in the arts community about the projects and programs that would be meaningful to them.
The first few events in our exciting slate of programming are listed below! You are very welcome to join the Creative Bond.
