A progressive, queer-affirming Dinner Church in Brooklyn, New York, St. Lydia’s works to dispel isolation, reconnect neighbors, and subvert the status quo. At Sunday services built around a shared meal, congregants cook, sing, pray, eat, and share stories together, trusting that these practices will move one another deeper into faith.
St. Lydia’s approach is designed so that leadership and participation are shared among all who walk through the door; the liturgy seeks to be just as accessible and relevant to those without any insider knowledge of church as it is to those who have attended for their whole lives. The congregation has long been a home for folks who are excited to make space for deep questions about faith and theology; many congregants come from diverse faith backgrounds and/or have not been accepted by the mainstream church.
