Creative Bond: Workshop

  • St. Lydia's 304 Bond Street Brooklyn, NY, 11231 United States (map)

The word "epiphany" comes from the Greek word epiphainen, which means "to reveal," "appear," or "make known.” In this still-life drawing workshop, participants are inspired to embrace a fresh perspective and encouraged to step outside their comfort zones and approach the creative process as though experiencing it for the very first time.

For this workshop, participants are invited to bring an object of their choice, ranging in size from a pinky finger to the length of an arm. Together, we’ll arrange these objects into a shared still-life composition, using the opportunity to introduce ourselves and the stories behind our chosen items. Participants are welcome to bring their own supplies, but plenty of materials will be on site as well.

Madeleine Matsson + Molly McIntyre are community focused South Brooklyn-based artists and curators. Matsson is primarily a landscape oil painter and has her MFA in painting from The New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting & Sculpture. McIntyre is a cut-paper artist who recieved her MFA in studio art from Maine College of Art. They met one day while dropping off their kids at day-care and have been collaborating ever since. They run Tiny Dancer Gallery based in Gowanus, Brooklyn supporting local, underrepresented artists and they are currently showing together at Gallery 198 in Sunset Park.
